How many miles calais to disneyland paris
Driving to Disneyland Paris usually works out considerably cheaper than flying or booking the Eurostar. We also really enjoy being able to detour to incorporate our grocery shop, before we arrive at Disneyland Paris. French supermarkets are fantastic. They are usually large, with masses of choice and very different sights and smells to British ones. The kids absolutely love taking in all the different sights and smells, its a different, fun and educational early layer to your family holiday to Disneyland.
We almost always choose to go with Eurotunnel when navigating from Dover to Calais. It is fast 30 minutes! When booking your train slot online the system will ask for your vehicle registration so that on arrival at the terminals the computers can use their registration recognition technology to speed up check in.
If you have provided your vehicle reg then arrival at the train terminal is usually very smooth. During peak times there can be holds ups and I would certainly advise getting there in plenty of time. I usually allow an hour, which, as my husband always tells me, is over cautious.
When the computer system recognises you, it confirms the time of your train, and prints out a hanging ticket for you to hang on your interior mirror. On it is a large letter which relates to what time train you are boarding.
As you drive on, you follow the lane which is displaying your letter. You will usually queue in lane for a while. When its time for you to board, traffic officers will direct you down to and onto your train.
Its a simple process, usually very well organised and well signposted, so its clear where you are going and what you are doing at all times. The journey itself is short around 30 minutes , smooth and relaxing. There are no refreshments available on board. You can get out and stretch your legs, have a picnic, play a game. Pets can travel with you on the Eurotunnel. For more information on travelling with your pets click here.
The most important thing to remember is to, of course, drive on the right! You adjust very quickly. The French motorways really are a pleasure to drive on in comparison to British ones. They are smooth, quiet and stress free. The route to Disneyland Paris is straightforward. A very important point to remember when planning your journey to Disneyland Paris, or indeed any drive through France.
Due to new updates from the DVLA the paper counterpart is no longer required and this includes when travelling on the Continent. You must be be 18 years or over to drive in France. A UK sticker to display in the rear windscreen and your motor insurance certificate. UK stickers are compulsory within the EU. New guidelines came into effect on the 28th September which state you must cover or remove any reference to GB before driving outside the UK and replace it with a UK sticker.
You will need to display a UK sticker clearly on the rear of your vehicle if your number plate has any of the following:. A warning triangle and reflective jacket for use in a breakdown. Minimum of one reflective jacket. The jacket must be within reach of the driver without having to exit the vehicle. We have stayed both on-site and off-site. Many off-site hotels come with kitchenettes, so that you can make your own food and they are generally more affordable when compared to the Disneyland resorts.
This is different from the other resort hotels because you get a lodge and not just a room. During the summer you can sit outside and have a barbeque. The Hotel is split up into different buildings each with a different Wild West related name. We absolutely love it. This hotel is ideal if you are going to do Disneyland Paris on a budget. The hotel is so close to the park and took us 15 minutes to walk from the hotel to the security scanning area at the entrance to Disneyland Paris.
Upon arrival at the hotel the times of the shuttles were given to us. The element of the hotel that appealed to us was that the room included a kitchenette, allowing us to save money instead of dining out in restaurants. The hotel had free internet and because we had taken a laptop with an adapter, we were able to watch our favourite shows on the TV in the room. Going to Disneyland Paris has taken on added meaning these days as not only are we embracing our love of all things Disney but we are also visiting the place we got engaged.
We normally try and visit during off peak times. Transition periods between festivals and mid-week during school terms have been good for us. It makes Disneyland Paris such an easy and accessible holiday destination and we love the freedom that driving there brings.
