When was zero dark thirty released

Many politicians and pundits interpret the film as an implicit depiction of torture because it was successfully used to find information that led to bin Laden's capture.

The day "Zero Dark Thirty" was released, Dianne Feinstein, the chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, penned a sharp letter addressed at Sony, the movie's producer, accusing them of misrepresenting the CIA's use of torture. Bin Laden," Feinstein wrote. You have a social and moral obligation to get the facts right. The report also says that torture had nothing to do with the finding of Osama bin Laden. The Senate Intelligence Committee also launched an investigation in January into contacts between the CIA and the makers of "Zero Dark Thirty", but dropped it a month and a half later.

Peter King, then the chair of the House Committee on Homeland Security he is still a member of it , also criticized the movie for its depiction of torture and launched a separate inquiry about the possibility of leaked classified information from the CIA to Boal.

King is still demanding a public accounting from the Obama administration on the subject, according to Vice. For you. Top review. Technically Impressive but Surprisingly Hollow. Its strongest feature is its dramatization of the Navy Seal Team 6 operation in Abbottabad, Pakistan, that killed bin Laden.

That sequence is so professionally shot it could be actual documentary footage. Episodic scenes occur in a choppy manner, one after the other. Scenes consist of depictions of beating and water boarding of detainees in order to gather information, agents stalking a suspect in Pakistan's crowded, chaotic bazaars, terrorist bombings, assassinations and assassination attempts.

There are also scenes in offices where characters stare intently at computer screens or interrogation videos, and characters yell at each other and use obscenities, as their frustrating hunt for Osama bin Laden wears them down.

Characters are given no backstory and no character arch. She reveals no affect. What I had issues with were the little inconsistencies that Maya made. She is, for the most part, shown as a strong, silent woman who per cent believes in her findings and stands by it.

But then she is also shown as someone who is borderline arrogant, too full of herself. Of course, being a human, she can have flaws, but not in a manner that looks jarring on screen. What bothered me was the way she handled the situation, which was not in line with the mood of the dramatic setting or her own persona at large. Another bone of contention for many people is the oft-talked about torture sequences. Yes, there is an implicit suggestion that torture can be an effective way of getting information.
